All Castella solid brass hardware is finished with a high-grade lacquer to help preserve its colour and protect against surface wear. Over time, and with regular use, the lacquer may naturally soften—revealing the character and patina that make real brass so timeless.

Brass is made to last, but its beauty will evolve. This is part of the charm of authentic, solid material. For those who prefer a lasting, unchanged finish, we recommend exploring electroplated options like Polished Chrome or Satin Nickel, which are more resistant to patina.

• Clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly. 
• Avoid metal polishes or harsh chemicals, as these may damage the lacquer and expose the brass to tarnishing. 

Important note: Lacquered finishes may age more quickly in environments exposed to coastal air, high humidity, or chemicals found in hand creams and sanitisers. To slow this process, clean with a mild soap solution and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Lacquered finishes used in coastal or humid environments are not covered under warranty.
